PicsArt_1460550378459

I’m getting so excited! Release day is approaching! Jun 21, 2016, will be here soon. Here is another sexy sample of my latest novel Encore: Descendants of Ra Book 4.

Holy—He’s commando!

Her breath hitched. Her brain lurched. A predatory grin split his features, combined with the glint in his eyes, Ridley felt feminine and small in a way she’d never experienced. Blood left her head and flooded to more important areas. Areas that ached to be licked, sucked, and filled.

“Don’t.” She held up a hand and stopped him from the big reveal.

“Suddenly shy again?”

Yes. “No. Your belt is an article of clothing. Remove it. Keep the pants. And pick up the cards.”

“One final deal.” EJ picked up the deck. Balanced in the palm of his hand, he extended the cards to her. One more loss and she’d have to choose between her bra or her bikinis.

Panic swelled. Ridley shut it down. Don’t think. Live. Finally, live!

She plucked one from the top. King of Hearts. She showed him the cards.

He plucked a card. Queen of hearts. “Well aren’t we a pair.” He extended the deck to her again.

Her fingers tingled in anticipation. Why? World peace didn’t ride on this one card. But her life did. Somehow, against all rationale, her soul was intrinsically tied to the next reveal. More precious than a gem, Ridley pulled the card from the deck. She hid her disappointment beneath a smile.

He waggled his eyebrows, the twinkle in his eye, wicked. One finger stroked the cards and yeah, her dirty mind went there because it wanted to. And so did her body. Moisture left her mouth and headed south.

Took a year for him to ease the card from the deck and lift to it to his eyes, and then show her. Nine of hearts. Twenty-two. Ridley hadn’t lost. She’d won. She could leave.

Damn it! She didn’t want to win.

“There is the door, Candy Cane. Never let it be said it kept you where you didn’t want to be.” EJ moved to the fireplace.

Her mouth opened and quickly closed. “Ok.” She looked down at her clothes piled on the floor, then up at EJ.

“I thought you’d be long gone by now. You won. No reason to stay. Would take you less than a second to be on your way.”

“Don’t be an asshole.”

He touched his chest. “Moi?” A sardonic lilt to his voice. “By now, you should know asshole is my default setting.”

That made her laugh and she moved toward him. “I know that.” Decision made, she strolled forward, unafraid even though she shouldn’t. Not if she wanted to maintain her objectivity and save her heart. “Be an asshole later, not now.”

Lust glazed his eyes. “Damn, you’re beautiful.”

One sentence and he had reduced her to a dainty, estrogen package. She preened under the compliment. It had been so long since she’d let anyone close to give her one. Now she absorbed his words into her DNA even as she shook her head. “No, I’m not. I’ve done things.”

Pants hanging precariously on his hip, he closed the distance between them, cupped her cheek, and stroked his thumb across her lips. “Yeah. I know. So have I. Everyone’s a saint and everyone’s a sinner at one time or another. I love the contradiction.” He pressed his body into hers. His breath fanned the shell of her ear.  “When was the last time something other than your hand made you cum?”

Her lungs turned into a vacuum. The answer to that question: “Nine damn long years.”

“Don’t you think it’s time to end the drought?”

“Remove. The. Bottoms.”

It was a command laced with a thread of violence. Not only did she dare not disobey him—she wanted to obey him. It had been so long since she’d let a man close to her, let one slip beneath her guard, and kiss her. Touch her.

Ridley stood. All she had to do was snatch her thermal, zoom upstairs to gather her few belongings and zoom out of the door. Ten seconds and she’d be away and on her own again.

Freedom…Solitude.

That’s what she needed. Not EJ Nicolis.

So why did her thumbs hook the tight band of spandex and lycra? Why did she stretch the material? Why did she do a little shimmy as she eased the yoga pants over her hips?

She did it for the growl of appreciation rumbling from EJ’s parted lips and the hunger igniting in his icy blue eyes. This was insanity! Showed a complete lack of self-preservation. And her curse…

Fuck the curse!

For tonight, there was no curse. No headstone with her name already carved. Here and now, she lived. Had a pulse. Air filled her lungs. And the man she desired, desired her right back. Tonight may be the only night they’d ever have. She would not blow it. Free of her hips, the material skimmed her legs and pooled at her ankles. EJ climbed to his feet with more grace than she would have thought possible for a man of his size. He stepped toward her, crowding her with that sinful body.

Naked except for three triangles of black lace covering all the important stuff, she had to stop herself from covering her crotch with both hands. So much for bravado.

“Deal the cards.” She ordered in a steady voice.

Another round played, another round lost by EJ. He unbuckled his belt and unbuttoned that shiny Levis symbol. The zipper sounded like a buzz saw. Suddenly, crisp red hairs came into view.

Holy—He’s commando!

Here is an action-packed snippet! EJ is NOT feeling the love. Ridley controls his body. And all he can do it hang on whether he likes it or not.

EJ’s mouth hung open in a silent scream as his body flew clear of the cave in. He landed inside the vault, tangled in the collapsed metal shelving. He climbed to his feet and clawed at the mound of rubble blocking him from his brother. He had to kill him and save Ridley from his fury.

Fuck, no! I’m saving him. Not killing.

He flung the rocks away, even as gravel filtered down. He dug deeper and deeper, focused on one thing, making sure Avery was dead.

NO!

His hands blurred as he spurred himself quicker. Ridley dug next to him. When? He paused.

“Don’t stop. We’re not gonna let Avery die.” Her hands moved incredibly fast clearing the way. Together, they didn’t stop until a pair of boots poked out of the rubble.

“I’ll pull, you keep lifting.” She grabbed his feet.

A large square of cement sat in the middle of Avery’s chest. EJ lifted while Ridley dragged Avery free.

Oh God! From his face down to his thighs—mangled.

They both dropped down beside him. “He’s not dead. He has the goddess’s power. He’s not dead.” Ridley mumbled, her words held little conviction. She reached out to touch Avery and EJ wanted to beat her as her orders made him beat his brother.

On a sob, her hand dropped to her side. “What have I done?”

Here is a sample of my latest manuscript Encore: Descendants of Ra Book 4. A little setup: EJ Nicolis doesn’t have his free will. All he can do is listen to Ridley Cross, the woman who has kidnapped his body along with his heart, share thoughts she would never impart if she knew he understood every word.

Ridley sucked in a sharp breath. “I can’t sleep with you,” she whispered all breathy and needy.

What he wanted to do to her didn’t involve sleep.

Her damn curse. He got it, understood the limitations, and wouldn’t cross the line. That didn’t mean they couldn’t flirt with that line, blur it a little. Only if she’d let him. It required a leap of faith and a truckload of trust. The question: Did she have it to give?

“All I want to do is kiss you. Touch you. See you.”

Her cheeks pinkened to a lovely shade. “Why should I show you anything?” She side-eyed him, yet couldn’t hide her interest.

Oh, he liked a challenge. “Never mind.” He moved away from her, gave her his back.

“Never mind? Like that—” She snapped her fingers, “—you’re not interested.”

Slowly, he turned and lingered on everything he desired. “Oh, I’m interested. I just don’t want you to say I coerced you later.”

“I wouldn’t do that.” She planted her hand on her hip.

Yes, she would, but he didn’t hold it against her. “How about a game of cards?”

“Cards?” she snorted.

He retrieved a deck off the mantle.

“I don’t have time for cards. I have to go now. It’s getting late, be dark soon,” she mumbled but didn’t make a move toward the stairs to retrieve her stuff.

“One hand of Black Jack. I win, you stay. You win, you do what you want.”

“Why should I do that?” She ran a hand through her platinum hair making the ends stand up farther.

“Now you’re just being contrary for the sake of being contrary. Food, warmth, companionship. Those are the reasons. And if that’s not enough, I know where Josie and Marilyn are.” He didn’t wait for her answer to shuffle as he planted his ass on the floor beside the coffee table.

She stood another moment, her foot tapping. Her gaze darted from the door to the deck.

Come on, Candy Cane. Make the right choice.

“Fine.” She huffed and plopped down opposite him.

“You do know how to play, right?”

She rolled her eyes and said, “Deal.”

The first card went to her. An ace of hearts.

His card. Ten of spades.

Ridley rapped her knuckles on the table. She wanted another card. Eight of clubs. “Beat my nineteen and you win.”

He needed an ace or a ten to beat her, nothing else would win. Good thing this was his favorite deck. He pulled a card and placed it face down on top of his ten of Spades. “Sure you want to do this? I’d rather you stay because you wanted to, not because I won and forced you to.”

Her lips thinned while her eyes narrowed. EJ waited while she contemplated her options. A shame she didn’t really have any.

“Flip the card, EJ.”

With a flick of his wrist, Ridley lost the game. “Ace of Diamonds. Make yourself at home, Candy Cane. You’re not going anywhere.”

Ridley Cross will stop at nothing to break her family curse. Including enslaving an innocent man, EJ Nicolis. He doesn’t deserve it, but regardless of the consequences, she’ll use him as a means to an end. Yet, the more time she spends with EJ, the line between survival and passion blur. MWTease151

Welcome to my Mid Week Tease.

“I used to watch you. I mean, the Order assigned me as your Watcher.”

Now that piqued his interest. When and where? He wanted details.

Her hand lingered on his arm as she stared into his eyes. “You were in Brazil protecting a diplomat’s kid.”

He remembered that assignment. The teenage son had been a spoiled dick.

“You killed two men who had tried to kidnap him. Double tap between the eyes fifty yards away before they got the kid in a van. No fuss. No mess. Easy clean up.”

EJ remembered. Then he went after the guy who hired them. That had been messy. Took a few days for the bullet hole in his shoulder to heal. Took longer for his mother—AKA Avery—to stop chewing his ass off.

“The kid was a basket case, but the father couldn’t thank you enough. He gave you a pouch with loose uncut diamonds inside. You refused the gift. I always wondered why.”

How could she know that? He remembered the meeting in the private office inside the embassy. Four people were in the room with him, the diplomat, two embassy guards, and a female aide serving coffee and sandwiches. He hadn’t paid the woman much attention other than a cursory glance. Now he wished he had. Maybe then they wouldn’t be on this collision course.

Her finger traced a pattern on his arm, which sent a shot of lust down his spine.

“Boy, you’re easy to talk too…when you can’t answer back.” A dry laugh escaped, and quickly dropped to a sigh. “Never thought I would miss the sound of someone’s voice.” The back of her hand stroked his cheek and slipped under his chin. She leaned closer. So close her breath fanned his lips. So close her amethyst eyes were all he could see.

Damn he wanted to taste her, slide his tongue between her parted lips, and draw her breath into his lungs. Just once, to quiet the question that suddenly needed an answer. He couldn’t move, not without her permission.

The smaller wiser, saner part of his brain raised a red flag and threw out query. After the kiss, then what? Fuck her? Kill her? Both or neither, what’s the game plan? Exit strategy?

Ridley closed her eyes, shook her head, and pulled away to move her food around her plate. He heard the word stupid mumbled under her breath and had to agree. From one to ten, them kissing had to be level fifteen stupid. Yet he’d never claimed to be a rocket scientist. The thought of being stupid with Ridley Cross had his blood humming. He watched as she chowed down her food in record time and push away from the breakfast bar.

“I’m going to check out our loot while you finish eating.” She stomped away.

EJ obeyed the order with gusto until a gasp came from the bedroom, then a strangled scream. “No! Noooo!”

Meet Avery and Emeline in the 3rd novel in my Descendants of Ra series. Secrets and lies separate them, but the passion between them won’t be ignored.

No. Sex.

She didn’t tell him no taste. Avery drew one nipple into his mouth and rolled the other between his thumb and forefinger. Emeline arched, giving her full breasts over to his care. After he’d laved each nipple, he eased his tongue down the center of her exquisite body and swore butterscotch coated her skin.

A pale birthmark graced on her right hip. He tongued the mark. Emeline jerked, a ragged breath escaped, and her legs parted, giving him a glimpse of moisture glistened on her hairs. He glanced up and captured her heated gaze as his tongue separated her folds.

Dear God. Avery lost himself in her lusciousness. He buried his face in her bounty, and loved her the way he’d fantasized. Emeline grabbed his head and rocked against his hungry mouth. She grunted, “Yes.”

He lapped her clitoris, twirled the tip of his tongue around the sensitive nub, and sucked. Hard. Her legs clamped around his head and her hips rose off the floor. He thrust into her, stroking her sweet folds until she shouted his name, and came as he continued his assault on her tender flesh. He didn’t stop until she collapsed, her legs falling limp.

Avery lay his head on her inner thigh and watched the quivering of her core subside. His dick throbbed, jealous of where his tongue had been. So close. But her words—No Sex—shut down that possibility. If this was the only moment that they would ever have, he would be grateful. Tonight was more than he’d ever hoped for.

It’s March and time for a new tease from the third novel in my Descendants of Ra series. Meet Avery and Emeline.

Emeline doesn’t want to get addicted to Avery. But it is a losing battle.

Emeline always sucked as a sifter, but she counted the deficiency as a plus. Who wanted to wear gloves the rest of their life to avoid random contact and the transfer of unwanted emotions? Occasionally in the heat of passion, she had caught a few emotional threads: horny, macho guy speak about how great he was.

Yeah, she had lousy taste in men. With Avery, everything was different. He touched a place inside her heart she’d never known existed. Palm to palm, her skin tingled where they touched. The pain in her side faded and his fragmented thoughts filled her head. Worry mixed with desire which warped into lurid images, tantalizing in detail, then dipped into a deep well of hurt all centered on her. She’d done this.

Except for brief splashes of streetlight, the back of the dim cab kept his features shadowed. Not his desires. Those flowed through him and into her. Her nipples tightened and her body hungered. She caught glimpses of his green and black eyes. Their intensity didn’t startle her. The corresponding heat surfing her blood and the receding pain, did.

Had he leaned closer? Or had common sense completely taken a vacation and she’d leaned in? His free hand touched her cheek. This was the last thing she needed. So why didn’t she pull away when his lips slanted urgently over hers?

Shutting down the heat between them—closing the door on any chance of them being together—that’s what she should be doing, not inching her way closer to disaster. Not dying for another taste of him. Not aching for him to take her in his arms, stripping her down to her marrow and take her any way, every way he wanted.

He kissed her as if this was the last kiss they would ever have, using lips, teeth, and tongue to hammer her resistance into biddable acceptance. He kissed her until all she knew was that she was a woman and he was a hot, hard man. And all hers—if she was woman enough to reach out and take him.

The car stopped. “We’re here.” The driver said.  The spell broke. She yanked her lips and her hand away. Pain flared, bright and awful. Somehow, she managed to open the door and climb out of the car without becoming a part of the pavement while he paid the fare. Getting away, far away from everything she wanted seemed like a brilliant idea.

This is one of my favorite excerpts in the Descendants of Ra series. I hope you enjoy Reign and Alexis. Everlasting, is the 2nd novel in my Descendants of Ra series.

“Damn, you’re beautiful.”

Reign couldn’t move, couldn’t breathe. He’d been called many things in his long life, beautiful wasn’t on the list. For the first time, he was afraid. A woman had brought him low before, he couldn’t chance it, not again.

Fingers roamed his chest, teased his nipples, and eased down his abs. She took his hand and pulled him beneath the spray. On tiptoes, she leaned into him, her nipples teased and her breasts pillowed against his chest. Millimeters away from his lips, her tongue flicked out and licked his bottom lip.

“What are you waiting for?” Her belly brushed his arousal.

“You tease.” He didn’t recognize the strained voice that exited his mouth.

“Never about this.”

“You dangle what I want only to snatch it away the moment I reach for it.”

She grabbed his hands and forced him to her breasts. Her nipples pressed into his palms. Every muscle in him turned rigid. He crushed his lips to hers. She slid her hand up the back of his neck, slanted her lips across his, and drew his tongue into her mouth. Lost in the feel of her lush body and heady scent he wanted to lose himself in all she had to offer.

Reign yanked away. Rational thought was moments away from crumbling. “You don’t want this.”

“I do. I want you.” She rubbed against him.

Her slippery body drove him insane. And he adored it, loved that she made him want to commit a crime just to be near her, never wanted it end.

Damnation. “I won’t be gentle. I can’t. Not this time.” He hated that his voice trembled along with his body.

“I’m a big girl. I can handle you.” She shifted so that her curls teased his shaft.

His fragile control snapped.

Reign scooped her up and pinned her to the back of the shower stall. Alexis braced her feet on his hips and opened herself to him. He cupped her ass and slid home. He buried himself inside her tight, slick heat. Hot, wet, and so damn good, his seed boiled. He quivered from the strain.

Alexis gasped. Her eyelids fluttered closed as her hips bucked and her nails dug into his shoulders.

He hurt her.

He started to pull out, but she locked her long legs and arms around him.

“Don’t. Stop.” Her body clenched.

Locking him inside heaven.

Here is another sexy snippet from Everlasting, the 2nd novel in my Descendants of Ra series. Reign Nicolis is a former sex slave to an Egyptian Goddess and Alexis Lever is the detective trying resist her attraction and arrest him.

Strands of his long hair swept across his face, partially hiding his expression. Alexis brushed the wayward locks away. She skimmed her palm down his sculpted cheek and through his short beard. His eyes widened and…he stopped breathing. Amazed that she had actually caused a man to stop breathing at her mere touch, Alexis leaned in for a taste, that’s all she promised. One kiss to settle the heat stirring in her blood.

Centimeters away from his lips, she paused, then drew away.

There’s a reason you’re celibate, Alexis. Too many relationships had soured quick and left her swearing off men for the past year. But if there was ever a reason to end her diet, Reign was it.

He waited. Not a muscle betrayed his emotions, yet a vein pulsed wildly at the base of his neck.

But he lied.

What if you approach this logically? You want him. Your panties are sticking to you, you want him so bad. So have him. Leave your heart out of it. Hell, men do it. You can do it too. Screw him, let him work all your kinks out. Just don’t fall in love with him so when the shit hits the fan—

I won’t be the one cut by the blades.

She pressed her lips to his.

Holy hell! Nothing had ever tasted so delicious, felt as delightful as his firm lips slanted across her mouth. His whiskers gently brushed her skin, heightening her senses. His scent, woodsy with a hint of musk, filled her lungs. She leaned into him, parted her lips, and licked the seam of his closed mouth. He shuddered and his lips parted. His tongue darted inside her mouth and ignited her blood.

He wanted her. She didn’t just feel in it in his touch, but knew it as if she were peeking into his soul.

They yanked apart, she panting while Reign inhaled sharply and exhaled deliberately. His pecs heaved as his gaze devoured her. Nothing made sense, not the heat surfing through her body or the hunger gnawing at her soul. Kissing Reign erased the presence of every man who had ever touched her.

“She had to have him, no matter the cost.”

Here is a sexy snippet from Everlasting, the 2nd novel in my Descendants of Ra series. Meet Reign Nicolis, former sex slave to an Egyptian Goddess, and Detective Alexis Lever.

“Reign—”

He claimed her lips with a scorching kiss. Raw and hungry, her head reeled. A hand cupped her head. Another gripped her hip and gave a gentle tug. She didn’t fight him guiding her closer or the desire he ignited in her blood. His knee slipped between her thighs and he lifted her until she hooked a leg around his waist. Chest to breast, abs to abs, groin pressed against groin, she felt him lengthen. Her core blossomed. Alexis moaned and his tongue slid into her mouth. He tasted like Sunday dinner at grandma’s, Christmas morning, and Midnight on New Year’s Eve, while his body promised Disney World. His biceps flexed as his hand slid under her shirt and stroked up her back.

She moved her hand up his chest, feeling the cotton fabric, the tense muscles beneath, and the thud of his racing heartbeat. Then her fingertips brushed the bare skin of his neck.

A bundle of conflicting emotions slammed into her. Passion warred with frustration and a simmering rage. Terror and loneliness mixed with a profound hunger and a darkness no sun could penetrate. Betrayal had tainted his memories, leaving an anger that stretched centuries. All of this was woven together by bitter regret.

Questions cleared the lust from her mind. She tore her lips away, aching from pain belonging to Reign. Briefly, his hands tightened on her body. His head dropped into the crook of her neck before she could search his face for answers. Warm breath fanned her collar. She bit her lip to keep from protesting when his hands dropped to her hips and he set her on her feet.

Alexis darted up the stairs to the safety of her grandmother’s bedroom. She stripped off her jacket and refused to think about the man camping in her living room. Yeah, right. As if she could order herself not to still taste him on her lips, remember his hands on her body and his tongue stroking her mouth.

How could she feel him, know his intimate thoughts? The good and the f’d up ones. There were a lot of f’d up ones. So many, he was a toxic stew, churning endlessly until he almost dragged her under.

Alexis gritted her teeth. She didn’t have time to decipher The Reign Riddle when Egyptian Gods roamed New York, resurrecting bodies, and wild animals were running loose. If she read it in a novel, she would’ve pitched it into the nearest incinerator.

But those things needed to die.

Period.

MID WEEK TEASE 2/3/2016

#MWT

MWTease151

It’s time for another Mid Week Tease! New month and a new novel to tease you with. Here is a snippet from Everlasting, the 2nd novel in my Descendants of Ra series. Meet Reign Nicolis, former sex slave to an Egyptian Goddess, and Detective Alexis Lever.

A force yanked Reign to a stop, reeled him back, and slammed him to the ground. Pain ripped through his head. The Vanquished, his personal army of demons, shrieked inside his skull. He’d thought Nephythys would have alleviated the curse so he could return quickly to her servitude. He wasn’t surprised fortune didn’t favor him. It never had.

For countries, for kings, and for emperors, he killed. To honor the Nicolis name, he killed. And to protect the one person he loved—his brother—he killed. Too many to count fell beneath his blade, but each victory came with a price.

Roman must return. Without his brother’s easy temperament to balance the darkness in Reign’s soul, the Vanquished ruled, and he would become a madman, no better than the beast he chased. Soon he would lose rational thought and descend into madness. He hadn’t traveled all this way to become the thing he would destroy. No. His fingers cracked the hard surface of the black ground, searching for earth to hold onto and center him. Sometimes touching the ground from which all things sought sustenance helped suppress the riot in his brain. But there was no dirt beneath the surface of this strange ground. An ashy, gray substance covered his fingers instead of fertile earth.

A distant whimper reached Reign and gave him the strength to turn his head a fraction. A woman stumbled from the house. She wobbled on unsteady legs. A wild, curly mass of hair obscured her view. She rested on one of the wooden columns. One wrong step and she’d trip on the scattered debris and tumble down the stairs. He had to get to her before she fell.

Fighting the invisible demons weighing him down, Reign forced himself to his knees. Then he crawled. With each step, the cries of the Vanquished lessened, replaced by calming silence. If he were pious, he would offer a prayer that she stay put until her reached her.

She pushed away from the column. Her knees buckled. Seconds before her skull would’ve smashed onto the ground, Reign materialized. He dove beneath her and absorbed the brunt of the fall.

Damn the gods.

The feel of her solid form blasted through his petrified center. He hadn’t realized how much he missed this. Human contact. The simple act of touching and being touched. Warmth and the softness of a woman. So long denied, now he feasted.

He buried his face in her mass of curly hair and inhaled jasmine and honey. A moan ripe with longing ripped from his throat and he fitted her lush curves more intimately to him. She shivered and her breath curled in the air. Gently, he rolled and let her slide from his arms to her back. The pale glow of artificial light bathed her face and he forgot to breathe. Something so lovely couldn’t be real. Wasn’t real. Touching her shouldn’t be allowed.

Desire to taste her luscious lips—this one time—dug its claws into him, and drew him near. He brushed her wild tresses from her face and stroked a finger down her cheek, leaving a bloody streak. A quick search and he discovered a gash on the side of her head. He hadn’t saved her. And while he pawed her like an untried youth, she lay dying.

Mid Weeek Tease 1/27/16

MWTease151

Hi Everyone,

I can’t believe January is almost over. So far it’s been a great writing month. The 4th novel in my Descendants of Ra is complete. A secret novella I’m working on is nearing completion and two more novella’s are plotted and in queue. I’m focused on excited about the year.

So here is another excerpt of Eternity, Descendants of Ra Book 1. Stella is in for a big shock. Can she handle it? Or will she bail and run away?

“Good evening.” A cultured voice said behind Stella.

Startled, Stella jumped. One moment she was eavesdropping, the next she faced a very beautiful woman. Hazel eyes scrutinized every detail from her tee-shirt and jean stopping at her Converse and sweeping back up. And, by the censure on the woman’s flawless face, she found her severely lacking. After all, jeans and a tee couldn’t compare to a power suit and four inch heels.

“Hello.” She said.

“Who are you?” The woman’s voice cut to the point.

“I-I’m Stella Walker.” Shit! Why did I stutter?

A predatory, shark-like grin spread across the woman’s face.

Stella had seen that look before, in foster care, right before someone came under a vicious attack.

“The last time I saw you, you weren’t as … presentable, or upright.”

“Excuse me?” She blinked. Her thoughts scrambled, leaving her stuck on stupid.

“In your hospital room, I stopped by to bring Roman his dinner.”

“Oh,” relief washed through her. “You’re his assistant,” she stated.

Sculpted eyebrows arched into her blonde hairline. “We weren’t introduced properly, Miss Walker. I’m Bianca Maylor, Roman’s fiancée.”

Stella’s throat dried to sand. On Bianca’s left hand was a beautiful round cut diamond, which she lay across her bosom in a perfect display while her right hand extended for a handshake.  On reflex, she shook the woman’s hand and found it as cold as her eyes.

She knew—in the same way all wives, fiancée’s, and girlfriends knew—that the other woman faced them. A threat to their happily ever after, the embodiment of every hoe out there trying to steal their man, that—in this woman’s eyes—is what she was. Accusation and condemnation thinned Bianca’s lips and narrow her eyes to slits.

“Con-congratulations,” Stella stuttered. Her temple began to throb and the scar ache as a migraine began building. A heavy tread sounded behind her. She turned just as Roman entered the room.

And stopped short.  His blue eyes assessed both of them. She figured he was judging the threat level. Good idea. She wanted to gut him, just like Bianca’s words and that gaudy lump of coal gutted her.

“Roman, sweetheart, there you are. I was just about to track you down.”

Sultry. I could never duplicate that walk, Stella thought watching Bianca stroll up to him and wrapped her arms around his waist. He didn’t push her way.

Her left hand and that ring landed in the middle of his broad chest and caressed him.

Touched where Stella’s head had slept hours earlier.

Where her lips had kissed.

And he didn’t push her way.

“Mr. Nicolis, I’ve just met your fiancée.” She surprised herself by not choking on the words.

Cool and calculated, no emotions showed on his handsome face. He had plenty of emotion last night while he made lo-“I’ll leave you two alone.”

And, he didn’t stop her.

Didn’t say a word. He let her go and stayed in the room with his future wife.  She almost made it to the stairs before the first sob burned her throat. A body stopped her headlong race up her stairs. Blurry eyes, she couldn’t see who it was but, she brushed by him and stumbled into various rooms until she finally found her own.

She slammed the door behind her, tears stinging her eyes. They scorched a trail down her cheeks. “What did you expect?” she shouted at the empty room.

Undying love. All it took was a pretty story and she fell like a worn set of dominoes. “He lied.” He promised you nothing. Nothing at all. And while he made love to me, he thought of her.

Braced against the dresser, she stared at her reflection in the mirror and her stomach rolled. Roman Nicolis swept into her life as her savior, now she needed saving from him. “You stupid fool.”

Hysterical, she picked up the vase of fresh flowers. Ready to smash the roses, she caught her reflection again. The bitter woman staring back frightened her.

This couldn’t be her.

Hello, all! It’s time for another tease from Eternity Descendants of Ra Book 1. I love the moment when the hero and heroine know they love each other, but still can’t admit it. That moment is full of angst and sexual tension, and even though I know how it will turn out, my heart still beats a little faster. Here is one of my favorite teases from Eternity.

Two seats down, a chair scraped along the floor, dragging her attention away. Roman slid into a seat. Shades covered his eyes, but her skin flushed as if caressed by his stare. Dressed in black, he sucked in all the light around him. Cut from the same cloth of the night, he embodied everything dangerous. A man to avoid. So why did her heart lurch, her mouth dry and every joint in her treacherous body loosen. Joy flourished where anger should while she feasted on the man. His once clean-shaven face had days of growth. He looked leaner, meaner.

Damn, he looked good enough to tie to the chair his ass sat on and ride.

“Stella.”

Guttural and deep, his voice touched intimate places, making her ache.  She panted slowly.

“Coffee, please.” Velvety smooth, he purred or did she hear what she desired?

Seconds ago, she barely had the energy to place one foot in front of the other. Now, her hips swayed with purposeful intention as she walked away. She glanced over her shoulder and swore the corner of his sensual mouth curled. Yep.

“Black coffee, the way you like it.” The steaming cup danced slightly in her hand.

“The way I like it? What do you know about what I like?” Gruff voiced, he studied her from his seated position.

“Days ago I knew what you liked.” The words tripped off her tongue. Days ago he spent the night locked between her thighs. The memory tightened her nipples and hollowed her.

MID WEEK TEASE Jan 13, 1026

MWTease151

Hello All. I’m excited to share a new Mid Week Tease. It’s a new year and 2016 will be awesome. My library of novels is growing, so I’m going to use January to highlight snippets of my first novel, Eternity: Descendants of Ra Book 1.

“Where are you taking me?”

“Somewhere safe.”

“Does that place exist?” Her lips twisted in a wry smile.

“It’s my job to make sure it does, at least for you.”

“Is that the only reason why you’re here, because it’s your job?” She shouldn’t have asked, but the words slipped out without a care for her pride.

“Why else would I be here? I’m a mercenary. I have a job to complete.” Monotone, his voice held no life, no passion.

Something in her heart broke. “Just a job?” Watery, her voice wavered.

“Just a job.” He turned his back on her.

Mid Week Tease 4/20/2016

It’s April and I’m posting a tease from the third novel in my Descendants of Ra series.

Meet Avery and Emeline.

#MWT

quoteNo1

Just a glimpse to end the night. Avery searched for Emeline’s tell-tale curls, hunger gnawing his insides, when a glint of metal caught his eye in the mirror behind the bar.

He spotted a knife. Then the hand and slender wrist poised to strike. His gaze continued up the shapely arm, across a bare shoulder to Emeline’s tight face. Avery barreled through the crowd, grabbed her hand, and placed his body between hers and the guy sitting at the bar.

The instant Avery touched her, the frayed dark core churning within him slowed, turned into something more deadly—desire. Her skin was soft, delicate, and so damn warm. Or was it him on fire from simply caressing what he’d craved for so long? She pushed against him,  struggling to be free to continue her assault. The correct pressure on her wrist and the knife dropped from her hand.

Her head jerked up and her hostile gaze nailed him. Then widened with surprise. Luscious lips parted and she sucked in a sharp breath. She shivered. In fear of him? He wondered. Did she remember their first encounter or the hospital? She shouldn’t remember him at all. He’d slipped up, let impulse control him, and break his cover. Not the first time with her. She was never supposed to see him, know of his presence. Yet here he stood, looming over her.

Her chest heaved, breasts jiggled, distracting him. “Why’d you stop me?” she said, yet didn’t pull her hand away. Her voice, even in anger, was sultry, potent. A narcotic to his eardrums.

Avery tossed the knife in the bar sink. “Too many witnesses.” From the corner of his eye, he spotted the man watching them. Avery pivoted and gave the guy his undivided attention.

Lightweight, he thought. The guy had some height and a bit of muscle mass under his expensive coat. No obvious bulge of a weapon. Soft hands clasped the beer bottle, though by his grin, he was cocky, used to giving orders. Avery had seen his kind many times, usually surrounded by sycophants. The guy rose from his seat. He gave Emeline a possessive glare.

“You and I have a date with destiny,” the man said.

“Don’t flatter yourself, Lincoln,” she snarled.

Lincoln chuckled and turned his gaze on Avery. “This one ain’t worth the trouble.” He walked away.

The man had just shortened his lifespan. “Who is he?” Avery demanded.

Emeline wrestled her hand away. Her eyes threw daggers at Lincoln’s retreating back, then at Avery. “Who the hell are you?” She waited for his answer.

He didn’t give it to her. Nothing good would come from her knowing his name.  She pushed, and Avery stepped out of her way, but watched as she stomped into the office. He didn’t have to turn to know EJ and Quin were guarding his back. She returned a few seconds later in a pair of low slung jeans, shrugging on a short leather jacket and slinging her purse over her shoulder.

Emeline walked by him on the way to the exit, without a glance his way. EJ whistled low and angled his neck to follow her strut. And she had a strut. A sensual sway her angry march couldn’t hide. And damn, she had an ass.

Avery wasn’t an ass man, that didn’t get him going. Legs cranked his engine. Loved them long and smooth and wrapped around his waist while he’s stroking deep, making that wet, sucking sound of two bodies slamming together. Looking at Emeline’s rear made him reevaluate everything he ever thought about being a legs man.

There is no such thing as a chance meeting.

There’s no room in Avery Nicolis life for an obsession, yet why else does he stalk Emeline Gamble. Lurking in the shadows, he hungers for a woman he can’t have. Between the secrets he guards and anarchy roiling in his soul, his only solace are his glimpses of Emeline. He will resist her, protect her from himself, and deny his desire to claim her heart.

Emeline Gamble was a Watcher for the Order—a secret society of women charged with monitoring the offspring of the gods. For months, she observed Avery Nicolis, an elite mercenary, Descendant of Ra, and enemy of the Order. Never knowing he had her in his cross hairs.

Trapped in a lie, Emeline is forced to accept Avery as her bodyguard. Compelled to spend time with him, she learns to care for his tortured soul and see the hero lurking beneath the assassin’s façade.

But every word out of her mouth is a lie. Every action a betrayal. Because to save her family she is forced to accept a new assignment, deliver Avery Nicolis to the Goddess of Chaos, alive…

And do not fall in love with him.

tms9
